A hunting scene of the kind woven into medieval tapestries, and also the kind of pursuit the old astronomers saw in the constellations. The hound and its quarry go on chasing each other ‘as before’, but the lyric sees them reconciled among the stars — conflict transposed into pattern, as if seen from the still point where opposites no longer oppose.
