A sudden change of address: the speaker steps out of the remembered scene to speak of his own words and of ‘your’ mind. The effect is to make the reader a companion in the memory rather than an onlooker — and to admit that the poem’s garden exists only as words echoing in someone else’s head. The four quartets often break their own spell in this way, commenting on what they are doing as they do it.
